We were lucky enough to get a pre-opening tour of Paris’ Hotel Massé, a very stylish, art-filled, and now open hotel in the Pigalle neighborhood. The family-owned hotel is run by siblings Eole and Corto Peyron, who tapped Gasparetto Parenti for design. Run by former designers of Festen Architecture (who did some of our favorite Paris addresses, Château Voltaire and Hôtel Balzac), the firm outfitted the hotel’s 40 rooms with a chic cream and brown color palette, and entirely vintage furnishings (no two rooms are alike). One of our favorite touches: each room has a unique painted tile in the shower—all of which reflect Pigalle’s fun-loving, nightlife-focused history. This one is likely to be a fashion crowd favorite, so if you’re visiting for fashion week, it’s a great spot to stay (and they still have availability).

Shoulder season is our favorite time to travel—less crowds, way better rates, and typically still perfect weather—and there are some cool new hotels that are giving us even more reason to plan one last beachy trip. Kicking things off is Sunset in Patmos, a laid-back boutique stay from the owners of beloved Athens wine bar Wine is Fine. It’s a minimalist, 70s-inspired hotel with great food (of course). Next we have Les Bassans in Brittany from French hotel group Fontenille. The cozy stay delivers water views from every room and a quiet location on the French coast, making it ideal for a restorative weekend trip. And if you love the South of France but you don’t love how busy it gets during peak season, an early fall trip to the recently reopened and redesigned Le Provençal will allow you to experience a blissfully quiet part of the coast at a stylish hotel with a striking seaside pool.

There’s no shortage of amazing follows on AmiGo, but this month we’re excited about three users in particular:

Marseille is one of our favorite destinations for eating—you just can’t go wrong here. Old-school pizza joints, seasonal cafes with perfect sandwiches and picnic fare, tasting menu spots where the experience is more about hip hop and natural wine than white tablecloths… the offerings are diverse and endless. And now there’s another spot on our hit list with the recent opening of Ciccino, an Italian bar and restaurant with a buzzing, chic atmosphere and classic dishes including a must-order crudo platter, rigatoni ragu, tiramisu, & more. Add it to your wishlist, and read our August recap of the 9 best new restaurants in the French city for more dining news.

We’re not back to school anymore but the start of fall does make us a bit more intellectually inclined. So, we’re looking forward to visiting some long-awaited new museums, which boast both spectacular architecture and art. Here are some of the soon-to-open spots at the top of our list:
The New Museum, New York: This LES museum will reopen at a not-yet-announced date this fall with a new building designed by Rem Koolhaas and a restaurant from AmiGo tastemaker, chef, and author Julia Sherman.
Fondation Cartier Pour L’Art Contemporain, Paris: Designed by French Pritzker Prize winner Jean Nouvel, this absolutely massive new museum on the Palais-Royal will open its doors on October 25.
The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York: Redesigned and reopening on November 15, this museum dedicated to artists of African descent will host more than 800 artists’ works and offer a sprawling rooftop.

Because we steadfastly believe that the best, most insidery recs come from locals, we’ve made it easy for you to discover them in any city you are planning to visit. Search for a city and toggle to the “People” tab, where you can then filter by “Local” and find in the know locals with recs for more than just the obvious spots. One of our favorite ways to find new follows, the People tab is a Premium feature—so upgrade now to discover local experts and access premium content that will enhance your travels even more.
