The temple of Aphea is a lesser known site of three temples that make up the triangle with the acropolis in Athens and temple of Poseidon in Sounion. These three temples form a roughly isosceles triangle when mapped, and all date to similar periods (5th century BCE). Some sources call it the “Sacred Triangle,” others the “Ancient Triangle.” The geometric alignment has sparked theories about intentional sacred geography, though scholars debate whether this was deliberate or coincidental. Aphea is one of the best preserved and with the least crowds. Grab a coffee at the little shop too. Awesome views.
