Roku Juan, a hidden gem recommended by a local follower, turned out to be the best discovery. I’m so glad that we decided to visit, even though it was a bit far from where we were staying. Our primary reason for coming was for the warabimochi which is transparent mochi filled with edible flowers, but we left with a whole experience and love for this place. Upon arrival, a friendly staff member warmly greeted us, offering a tour of the property and sharing stories about the family who used to live there, the art on display, and the century-old garden that still thrives. My favorite part was eating mochi while enjoying the charming view of the garden. Once we finished our sweets, we had the opportunity to walk around in the garden, adding to the overall experience. Roku Juan has become one of my hidden treasures in Kyoto that I adore.
