Puerto Escondido
GO GUIDE

A lively little surf town on Mexico's Pacific coast in the state of Oaxaca, Puerto Escondido is known for its beaches, nightlife, and world-renowned surfing. It is a true-to-form beach and surf haven, more low-key, rustic, and casual than places like Tulum and Cabo (there are no huge resorts), which makes it a great destination for young travelers who are looking for a slow, chill, surf and beach town where shoes are optional and a bathing suit is all you need, and also a lively nightlife.

mustGoCasa TO

Tucked away in the quiet part of La Punta, this 8-room eco-conscious boutique hotel is an architectural oasis that generates a radical sensory experience upon entering, from renowned architect Ludwig Godefroy. The stunning space centers around a covered infinity pool and solarium, with vaulted concrete volumes, rectilinear lines, exposed load-bearing walls, lightweight structures, and open interiors. Relaxed, friendly, and laidback hospitality is a reflection of the overall atmosphere and the way the space exists in contrast and harmony with the surrounding nature. A truly special, one-of-a-kind stay with a not-to-be-missed rooftop restaurant that’s an exceptional culinary experience, featuring seasonal dishes and natural wine.

mustGoFish Shack

Casual and delicious fish taco shack right on La Punta, where music is bumping and vibes are high. Perfect for a bite between the beach and surfing–it’s literally right on the sand. Order many kinds of seafood tacos (fish and shrimp are a must) and a mezcalita or agua fresca.

mustGoGlou Glou

An exceptional culinary experience by an Argentinian chef-sommelier couple featuring seasonal dishes and natural wine. What started as a side project to share their respective talent and passion with friends and family in the shape of a dinner and wine pairing at their home, grew so popular and became the gastronomic destination in Buenos Aires. The owner of Casa TO visited and offered them a chance to fully pursue their project at the boutique hotel. The seven-course tasting menu emphasizes local, seasonal ingredients, and a masterful natural wine pairing (with a local beer & mezcal thrown in). Menu highlights include the grilled octopus and melon with an almond broth, and the lobster, eggplant, and nori on a handmade tostada. Prepare for a memorable meal in a beautiful space that is open to the surrounding tropical forest and sky. Sit at the bar to see the magic happen in the open kitchen. It’s only a matter of time before this spot earns international recognition.
