The French capital is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. You can visit year-round, but know that the city basically shuts down in August (when locals go on vacation), and many of the best restaurants and shops are temporarily closed.

Atelier Brancusi

Set right next to the Pompidou, this former studio of Constantin Brancusi is filled with his pieces and open to the public for free. It's a must for art or design lovers. 

Bar Hemingway

This stunning, tiny bar is located at the Ritz hotel and one of the most famous bars in the world, so it's tough to get into. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the doors open at 6 p.m. for the best chance of snagging a seat. The bar itself is absolutely stunning.

Bistrot Des Tournelles

This fantastic French bistro serves all the classics—steak au poivre, oefs mayo, cordon bleu—in a chic dining room that attracts a stylish crowd. It’s one of the best bistros in Paris, and centrally located to boot. 

Bistrot Paul Bert

An 11th arr. classic for phenomenal steak au poivre, natural wine, and an amazing atmosphere. It's a favorite and less touristy than some of the other more central major French bistros. Make reservations ahead of time. 

Chez Georges

A classic for a reason. Don’t miss it, whether it’s your first or fiftieth trip to Paris. Order all the bistro classics (sole meuniére, deviled eggs, steak au poivre, profiteroles) and try to snag a table on the terrace.

Clamato

Clamato serves delicious seafood-centric small plates. You can't make reservations, so prepare to wait a bit.

Early June

This beloved 10th arr. natural wine bar hosts up-and-coming chefs from around the world and is one of the coolest foodie spots in Paris right now (but it's not a scene). You can only make reservations for groups of four or more, which is highly recommended. Or pop by and put your name down when it opens at 6pm!

Folderol

Owned by a local couple, Folderol is a very charming wine and ice cream bar in the 11th arrondissement, just on the edge of the Marais. Each glass is paired with a ice cream flavor, and you can also order from the small menu of savory snacks. We love coming here for a break after an afternoon of shopping.

Frenchie

Frenchie is a Michelin-starred restaurant with a relatively affordable tasting menu. It's great for a date night and one of the most famous restaurants in the city. Frenchie's wine bar (next door to the restaurant) is also perfect for something a little more low-key.

Le Bon Marché

This famous Left Bank department store has all the best local and international brands that make Parisians so chic. It's one of the best department stores in the world.

Le Clown Bar

Natural wine, superb small plates, a buzzy crowd that's comprised of a mix of locals and chic travelers, and a stunning setting in an historic Belle Epoque cafe that dates back to 1902. The intricate clown tiles inspired this spot's name. Come for lunch while shopping in the Marais or a date at night, and try the specialty: veal brain. (You can also enjoy less adventurous dishes.)

Le Marais

The old Jewish quarter in Paris is the city's most famous neighborhood and a chic place to explore with lots of small boutiques, galleries and restaurants. The central Place des Vosges is a lovely little park, and some of the best streets to shop along are Rue Vieille du Temple, Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, Rue Charlot, Rue de Poitou and Rue de Saintonge. This neighborhood is also home to the Picasso Musem and the oldest covered market in Paris, Marché des Enfants Rouge.

Musée Rodin

This beautiful museum is an oasis in the center of Paris where you can see the works of famed French sculptor Auguste Rodin. Don't miss his most famous sculpture, The Thinker. 

Saint-Germain-des-Prés

This beautiful neighborhood is one of the best to meander around thanks to its small, charming streets. Once the stomping grounds of artists and creatives like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and Ezra Pound, it is now home to lovely restaurants, chic boutiques and museums like the Musée d’Orsay. Some landmarks include Jardin du Luxembourg, Le Bon Marche department store and Café de Flore.

Salle des Massages et Traitements de l'Officine Universelle Buly

A must for beautifully packaged bath products. This location has a little café, flower shop, and treatment room where you can get massages, reflexology, and facials using their products. You can also hire a specialist to come to your hotel room or apartment. There's another location in Saint-Germain-des-Prés that just sells Buly products.
